Launch of the Enterprise Europe Network Ireland

The Enterprise Europe Network Ireland was officially launched in Dublin on 8th May 2008 by Michael Ahern, T.D., Minister for Innovation Policy.  This is an EU funded programme which is replacing the Innovation Relay Centre and the Euro Info Centre Networks across Europe.  The objective is to establish a single European network for “Services in support of Business and Innovation” which integrates the services currently provided in parallel by the IRC network and the Euro Info Centres. The new network consists of 4,000 persons, 500 organisations, 40 countries and a client base of 23 million SMEs.
The Enterprise Europe Network in Ireland will consist of Enterprise Ireland as the coordinating host organisation and Chambers of Commerce from Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Galway and Sligo.

TechSearch - launch of new website.
Enterprise Ireland develops intellectual property exchange portal for Irish businesses.
Enterprise Ireland has launched a suite of initiatives to enable Irish companies to comprehensively explore the option of technology acquisition as a cost efficient way to enhance technical capability.  The flagship tool, the high spec internet portal www.techsearch.ie, will help Irish companies to sell their own intellectual property (IP) in other markets as well as to license IP from overseas firms to create new revenue opportunities.  Two guides on the tax and legal implications of technology licensing have also been developed in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Beauchamps Solicitors.

Technology Opportunities in Canada

Companies planning on accessing the North American market now have a new channel through an agreement recently signed between Enterprise Ireland and IRAP (Industrial Research Assistance Programme— Canada).  Under the agreement, both organisations will assist companies to:

  • Find a Canadian partner as a gateway to the North American market
  • Find a Canadian technology or product that might be licensed for the European market.

In Ireland the partnership is operated by TechSearch.  Our staff can prepare a profile of an Irish company’s requirements which is then passed to the IRAP network in Canada.   IRAP’s 250 technical advisers have contacts with many thousands of SME’s right across Canada, and as well as seeking companies interested in Irish company profiles, they will also identify companies interested in using Ireland as a gateway to the European market.  Further details see our TechSearch website.
